The questions and answers below are meant to help clarify some common questions about the Pain Management and Opioids module, how CME/CE credits are earned and reported, and how the product works in general. If you do not see the answer to your question below, please complete the contact us form and our Customer Support Team will assist you.

» How many CME/CE credits can I earn with Pain Management and Opioids?

Pain Management and Opioids allows you to earn up to 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ as well as additional continuing education credits and maintenance of certification points. You must answer all sixty-two (62) questions to claim the CME credits you earn. All our questions have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. You will receive one (1) credit for every six (6) questions you answer correctly. You earn 1/6 of a credit the first time you answer a question correctly regardless of the format.

» Does Pain Management and Opioids satisfy the new DEA requirements?

Yes. NEJM Knowledge+ Pain Management and Opioids meets the new 8-hour DEA training requirement.

» If I only need 2 or 3 credits can I answer fewer questions?

In order to receive CME credit, clinicians need to answer and view the feedback of all sixty-two (62) case-based questions. Once this requirement is met it is then possible to claim your credits. If any questions were answered incorrectly the system switches to adaptive mode allowing you to continue answering questions to earn any remaining CME credits up to a total of 10.

» Why can’t I see the CME/CE credits I am earning in Pain Management and Opioids?

As you are answering the case-based questions in the module, your CME/CE credits are accumulating in the background (one (1) credit for every six (6) questions answered correctly). Once you have answered all the case-based questions, a congratulations message will display and the CME credits that you earned will appear in the MOC/CME/Accreditation Center. If you earned fewer than 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ you can choose to return to the module to continue answering questions in an adaptive mode until you earn all the available credits.

» I have completed the module, how do I download my CME/CE credits?

After you have seen all sixty-two (62) questions in the Pain Management and Opioids module, you can download or print a PDF transcript for your records.

Open the menu on the left side of the screen and select Credits Center. Select “PAIN MANAGEMENT AND OPIOIDS” from the top, horizontal menu of products and then scroll to the bottom of the page to the “ACCESS MY TRANSCRIPT” button. Next, select the transcript button, set your desired date range for the transcript and then select “PRINT TRANSCRIPT.”

» How many hours can I get by completing the Pain Management and Opioids module?

NEJM Knowledge+ Pain Management and Opioids is an enduring material. For enduring materials, it takes a learner one hour to complete 6 questions within the module. Since there are sixty-two (62) questions that translates to 6 questions/hour for a total of up to 10 credits or 10 hours to complete the entire module.

» How do you submit my ABIM MOC points?

You may earn up to 10 ABIM MOC points by successfully completing this Pain Management and Opioids module (each CME credit earned is equal to 1 ABIM MOC point). Your points will be submitted on your behalf to the ABIM when you provide your ABIM number and your date of birth. You can add your information to your profile at any time in the Credits Center.

We submit ABIM MOC points at the end of each day but it may take 24-48 hours for your points to appear in your ABIM account.
