We’re proud to announce the launch of NEJM Knowledge+ Family Medicine Board Review. This program is designed to meet the continuous learning and board exam review needs of family medicine physicians, family medicine residents, and physician assistants.

Mark T. Nadeau, MD, MBA, FAAFP, and the senior reviewer of the NEJM Knowledge+ family medicine question bank, confirms that by using this product, “You develop the knowledge base that will help you be successful in the high-stakes test that is the American Board of Family Medicine exam.”

Excellence in a Question Bank

Designed specifically to meet the needs of FM practitioners and PAs, the product includes:

  • More than 4000 questions covering nearly 1500 key learning points
  • A simulated exam environment with two timed 2-hour practice exams

The case-based multiple-choice questions in NEJM Knowledge+ Family Medicine Board Review reflect the patients you see in your practice and at the same time rigorously prepare you for the board exam. The “general family medicine” modules in the system cover all the organ systems plus nine other key parameters (such as location of care, decision focus, and competency category) to ensure that the questions are simultaneously relevant and comprehensive for practicing clinicians. The “elective modules” in the product allow you to focus your study on the two topic areas you’ll choose on exam day to make up 26% of your ABFM board exam (including child and adolescent care, emergency/urgent care, geriatrics, sports medicine, and women’s health).

The content was written by more than 300 physicians from practices and programs across the country and was subjected to a rigorous editorial process that included review by highly respected professional educators, leading specialists in their fields, internal medicine and family medicine generalists, and NEJM Group editors. You can be sure that what you’re learning in NEJM Knowledge+ is completely accurate and evidence-based.

We’re committed to keeping our content current and aligned with the standard of care in medicine. We routinely review our question banks in light of new guidelines, and any edits we make as a result are quickly incorporated into your learning experience.

Adaptive Learning Platform — the Engine behind NEJM Knowledge+

The platform we’ve created with our technology partner — Area9 Learning, a physician-led pioneer in adaptive learning — uses research-proven, innovative methods that accelerate proficiency, continuously sharpen skills, and promote true lifelong learning.

Unlike other medical learning solutions, which emphasize reading, study, or lectures leading up to questions and practice exams, NEJM Knowledge+ emphasizes continuous self-assessment with multiple question formats followed by detailed feedback, a system to help you retain what you learn, and sophisticated performance assessment and tracking to help you easily, systematically, and consistently make the best choices for how to spend your valuable time.

Who Will Use NEJM Knowledge+ Family Medicine Board Review?

This lifelong learning and board review solution will be useful for individual FM physicians, FM residents, and PAs who are preparing for certification or recertification, as well as those who want to refresh and retain the broad body of medical knowledge learned in training.

Christie J. Lucente, MS, PA-C, and the physician assistant reviewer of the family medicine question bank, says “I’ve tried taking courses, I’ve tried doing book learning, and I’ve tried other online platforms, and there’s nothing that’s as convenient or efficient as NEJM Knowledge+.”

As is the case with Internal Medicine Board Review, Family Medicine Board Review will also be of interest to FM-residency and PA-training programs. Many internal medicine residency programs, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and Jersey City Medical Center, are providing more than 1000 residents with access to this innovative learning platform as part of their medical training.
